The food waste toolkit for young Australian university students.

Young people aged between 18-24 are one of the largest groups of food wasters. How can we engage young Australians in a meaningful, relevant, personal manner to challenge food waste habits to improve the Earth’s environmental well-being?

GUSTA (derived from “gustatory”) is a toolkit providing young Australians with practical resources to help them change their food waste habits.

GUSTA’s digital and physical applications generate engagement and connection with the issue of food waste.

The GUSTA Club should have an accessible space at university for students to put the toolkit’s offerings into action together.

An online learning resource and club.

The GUSTA Club is an online learning resource constantly evolving with new and updated information on the complete cycle of reducing food waste, from creating a meal planner and shopping list to pickling and composting.

GUSTA challenges food consumption habits and contributes to closing the invisible barriers in our current food system in the cycle of produce, plate, and the planet. The skills GUSTA helps develop are the ideal channel into climate action on individual and community levels. GUSTA makes the process of reducing food waste accessible, simple, playful, fun and collaborative.
